It’s the end of my time here in Lillehammer. Pre-season is over and we move to Sigulda tomorrow.
Today was day 2 of the GB selection race…
We raced over two days; four runs in total. The first time I’ve been in a four run race (usually two runs, one day). It mimics an Olympics or World Championships so good prep for the future hopefully!
Anyway, let’s get to the business end 🙂 I finished day one in third place; behind Lizzy Yarnold and Laura Deas (senior GB sliders) surprising myself and setting personal best times and speeds (121 kph). Being in a good position whilst excellent means you’re there to be chased!
Day two started of fantastically; I set another big PB – getting close to breaking 54 seconds. And I improved on my speed from the day before, hitting 122 kph (76 mph!!). I maintained third position but the gap between third and fourth was closing. On the fourth and final run of the competition I unfortunately made a couple of mistakes and got overtaken; finishing in fourth overall behind world class sliders.
It’s been an extremely good two weeks in Lillehammer, I’ve knocked almost 3 seconds off my former best time and put a lot of clicks on my PB speed! The team out here has been fantastic and the race result was the icing on the cake. Next stop Sigulda, Latvia.
